PTE Academic test measures listening, reading, speaking and writing all through the computer in a solitary three-hour test session. The test taker will need to attend a secure Pearson test center to complete a PTE Academic test. Students will use a computer and headset to listen to, read and answer to questions.
There are three main parts of the test in three-hour test session, speaking and writing (at once), listening and reading. PTE ACADEMIC TEST FORMAT
PTE Academic (The Pearson Test of English Academic) is a computer-based exam which takes three hours approximate to complete. In addition, this includes an optional scheduled break of up to 10 minutes. There are three parts as below which are separately fixed with time slot.
- Section1- speaking & writing—77-93 minutes
- Section2-Reading-32-41 minutes
- Section3-Listening-45-57 minutes
This computer-based exam will measure your skills of reading, speaking and listening with the mode of the test in given duration. Each section has a specific way to measure your skills. It is depending on the assortment of items in a given test with different formats, includes multiple-choice, re-order paragraphs, and fill in the blanks. Furthermore, the listening section mainly focuses on audio and recording to measure listening skills.
SECTIONS IN THE PTEACADEMIC TEST
- A: Speaking & Writing: –
You will be a veteran on your speaking and writing skills in the first part of the test. It will take 77 to 93 minutes to measure speaking and writing skills. This section will measure your spoken English in an academic environment which includes the personal introduction, repeat sentence, read aloud and more. - B: Reading: –
You will be examined on your reading skills in second part of the test. It will take 32 to 41 minutes to measure reading skills. There are 15-20 independent and integrated skills item in this section. It is depending on the assortment of items in a given test with different formats, includes multiple-choice, re-order paragraphs, and fill in the blanks. This test was designed to examine to read, write and listen to information provided in English to a test taker. - C: Listening: –Listing part purely based on audio or video clips, which begin to play automatically. It will take 45to 57 minutes to measure listening skills. Test taker hears each audio or video clip only once. Therefore, the candidate needs to listen provided audios carefully. Test takers are allowed to take notes.
